Stephen Graham

The winner of the first Henry Rothschild Ceramic Bursary, in 2013, was Stephen Graham.

Winning the Rothschild bursary gave me the opportunity to push myself and my work further into the realm of performance and audience participation than I have ever done before.

At the same time, working alongside the Shipley Art Gallery, I had the opportunity to receive creative feedback on the project I had put forward.

The final piece was used in pop up performances over a weekend at the British Ceramics Biennial in 2017 (see the video below).

In 2015 I was also able to set up a community ceramics studio in Manchester: the Community Clay Studio. This runs classes for all levels and membership for more self directed makers, and the demands are such that time for my personal practice is currently limited.
